Our 3 Steps to Private Therapy
Telephone Consultation
Once you have contacted us, we will arrange a free 15 minute telephone consultation. This allows you to share an overview of what you are finding difficult, for us to see if we are the right service for you, and how we may be able to help.
Understanding More Through Assessment
If you wish to proceed, we will book an 80 minutes assessment session to get to know you as a person, understand what you are finding difficult, and look at what is going well in your life. We aim to start building a shared understanding of any difficulties, which can include what keeps them going. From here we will make a plan for the next steps.
Therapy: Working Towards Change
We are able to use a number of therapeutic approaches to best support you. We aim to be goal driven in our work to ensure that we are focused on supporting you to move towards the life you want to live. We will recommend a number of sessions that we believe you may benefit from; however you can choose to have less or more.

Psychological Assessment and Formulation
Assessment is an important first step in understanding the difficulties you are experiencing and what might be maintaining them. This session provides a warm and empathic space to explore your experiences and to begin making sense of how different factors — such as life events, relationships, thoughts, emotions, and behaviours — interact to influence your wellbeing.
This process also involves getting to know you as a whole person, your values, strengths, and what matters most to you, so that any support is grounded in your existing resources as well as the challenges you face. Assesment sessions last approximately 80 minutes to allow time to explore your current concerns, relevant background information, and what you hope to achieve from therapy.
The outcome of this process is a psychological formulation: a shared understanding of what you find difficult and what may keep it going. This formulation acts as a roadmap for therapy, guiding the choice of evidence-based approaches and ensuring that sessions are tailored to your individual goals and circumstances. There’s no pressure to share or cover everything in the assessment session. Understanding develops over time, and the formulation will naturally evolve as new insights emerge throughout therapy.
Together, we’ll use this understanding to create a plan for moving forward — one that feels realistic, collaborative, and tailored to what matters most to you.
What Therapy Do We Offer?
Below you will find the types of therapy we are trained in and regularly use. We take an integrative approach, drawing on multiple evidence-based methods to tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs and goals.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT aims to help you understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact. It supports you in identifying unhelpful patterns, learning practical strategies to manage difficulties, and making changes that improve your wellbeing.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you to develop flexible ways of responding to difficult thoughts and feelings, dropping the struggle with them, and using that energy twoards living a life that matters most to you. It builds on what you value in life with the intention of living more through these values.
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
CFT helps you develop greater self-compassion and a kinder, more supportive relationship with yourself. Drawing on insights from how our minds have evolved to respond to threat and stress, it teaches ways to manage self-criticism, shame, and anxiety, while building emotional resilience and wellbeing.
System Focused Work
This type of work looks beyond the individual to understand how relationships and family dynamics may influence difficulties. For example, working with all of a household family unit.By working with the wider system we can explore different perspectives and ways of relating to support wider dynamics and relationships.
Extended Assessment and Formulation
Sometimes, people prefer to develop a more detailed understanding of their difficulties. In this case a longer assessment and formulation processes may be hlepful. We also do appointments focused more on assessment when looking into thinking skills and learning.
